Happy Administrative Professional Day

It's been a while since I last posted and for good reason. I've been super busy with the Spring Brides on board at Sara Paper.

I took time today to participate in the Administrative Professional Day Luncheon, sponsored by the Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce. As usual there were lots of giveaways, great food and good fun.

My contribution to the "Goody Bag" was a notecard and an invitation to visit my website and blog. I hope to have some new visitors and hopefully future clients. So, if this is your first time here - WELCOME! And please come back soon. I plan to post some photos of my recent work.

Weekend Recap - Famous Husband and Lots of Food

We're pretty excited around here. We might inherit some big money. No, we're not rooting for some long lost relative to pass on so we get their stash. We're rooting for the folks at Deal or No Deal to call my husband and invite him to be on the show.

Saturday afternoon my husband Adam went to Piqua and joined 5,000 other eager participants, all waiting for a chance to interview for the honor. After 5 hours Adam had a 20 second shot to tell them everything about himself. They liked what they saw and sent him on to the second round! After the second round he was asked to stay and answer some interview type questions. They scribbled a bunch of stuff on the back of his application and told everyone who had made it this far that they'd be in touch!

He ran into my cousin Paula and her boyfriend, who also made it to the second round, though when I called them later they informed met that they didn't make it to the extended interview portion. Bummer. With 5,000 people in attendance I'm surprised he didn't see anyone else he knew.

Adam kept pretty busy while in line handing out Sara Paper business cards. If you are the recipient of one of those cards allow me to say "welcome" and "hello". I should also apologize if Adam was much trouble. I'm impressed he stuck it out so long, usually he gets pretty antsy and starts acting up.

To the guy that called Adam out by accusing him of being nervous . . .GOOD CALL. Not much scares him but my husband never shuts up, unless he's really nervous.

Probably one of my favorite things about weekends is dining out. Even if I work all weekend, which I did, I am happy if I get to go somewhere good for dinner. Friday night my friend Patti came to town and we enjoyed chinese food and conversation. Saturday night Adam took me to La Carreta, the new mexican joint in Celina, Ohio. Yummmmmy! Oh it was good. The place was packed with people all having a good time.

Then Sunday night we delivered a sign to Guarnieri Pizzeria in St. Marys, Ohio. While I didn't design their great logo I print their menus and helped Ang with the photos on the wall of their beautifully redecorated place. The food is awesome! If you're going to be in St. Marys give them a call and pick up dinner.

So all in all, it was a great weekend. I was very productive with my work, my husband is on the pathway to fame, and we all ate well. Life is good!

Now for my Second Ever Client Spotlight.

I have picked Alicia Thedford of AT Events for several reasons. First of all she’s the hardest working event planner I NEVER met. That’s right. Alicia and I have worked on several projects and we have never even met. She operates in C-bus and I’m in rural New Bremen. I only know what she looks like because of the photos on her website which is http://www.ateventsanddesign.com/

The second reason I picked Miss Thedford is because she just celebrated her 30th BIRTHDAY! I’ve been dying to say something to her about her SURPRISE birthday party. A while back Alicia’s sister Alana (also a past client) asked me to design some invites for the surprise party they were throwing for Alicia. Then she told me I wasn’t allowed to mention it to the birthday girl. This was kind of tough because we’ve been working on several projects and emailing each other all the time. I was worried I would slip up and say something stupid to ruin the surprise. I hate keeping that kind of secret but I’m so proud (and very happy) I did. I hope you ladies had a great time celebrating. I can’t wait to hear the details.

From all accounts Alicia has done an awesome job building her business, AT Events and Design. She has great ideas, lots of energy and a joy to work with professionally. Most of all, she’s a nice gal “who is still fly”. Right Alicia! Check out her website and consider her for a future event. http://www.ateventsanddesign.com/

It’s April – Now What?

I kicked off the month of April by calling my friend Kathy and wishing her a Happy April Fools Day. She loves the holiday and celebrates it with a pleasure that most people express when they are presented with fine jewelry. We don’t see each other regularly but I always think of her on this day so I call.

Most people who know me, know that I express great pleasure when the Minster Tasty Treet opens for the season. Well folks, IT’S OPEN! I’ve had my first Turtle Sundae of the season and it was gooo-od. I didn’t even try to be “healthy” and opted instead to get the regular ice cream over the lower fat (so they say) yogurt version. I have few regrets about my choice.

Which reminds me of something Kim, one of my June Brides recently said. She told me a story about how she was working out at her gym and chatting with another gal who said, “So, you’re trying to get in shape for the wedding day huh?”
Kim replied, “Oh, no, no, no. Every bride looks beautiful on her wedding day. I'm working out so I look good the following weekend when I’m a bridesmaid in my friends wedding.”

Classic! Along those lines, I’ve decided it’s time to get myself in shape for spring. My friend Laura has a goal of running (okay sometimes walking) 60 miles a week. Ambitious. I’m not so sure I can accomplish that but I did sign up for a Zumba class at the Y. Maybe that will help. Probably not eating Turtle Sundaes every chance I get would help too but so what. Baby steps. Anyway, to all those that are also preparing for swimsuit season, I’m right there with you. GOOD LUCK!
