Weekend Recap - Babies, Bowling and Business Decisions

Adam and I happily drove to Columbus Friday evening to visit the newest member of the Suchland family. Samuel Griffin Suchland was born to Adams brother Matt and his wife Heidi. They have the distinct honor of having the largest newborn baby, weighing in at 9 pounds, 15 ounces! I'm usually some what squemish about handling tiny newborns but Sam was so thick and study I didn't have too much trouble. Even Adam was game and finally held him. I noted this and suggested out loud that when I have a baby I will hope for a large one so we will be comfortable taking care of the baby. Tiny Miss Heidi quickly (but weakly) put me in my place. I can't imagine why?!

Saturday night we went bowling with Adams large extended family. I got to meet some of the family that I've never talk to before even though we've been married 5 years. It was a nice time even if Adam did beat my score.

And now for business decisions. Lately I've been enjoying a fuller Sara Paper schedule so I've decided it's finally time to quit my part-time job at the Chamber of Commerce. It wasn't an easy decision. I enjoy working outside the home, I enjoyed my co-workers and the actual job. So I leave with some sadness.

On the other hand this means I will be more available for my clients, I will be able to work on the developement of my stationery lines and website which really makes me happy. Hopefully by the beginning of May I will have new and exciting designs to share, set hours to better serve my clients and a website full of pictures from my portfolio.

Best of all I'll have more to time spend with Adam and the dogs.

Eat, Drink and be Merry, for a Good Cause.

A good time was had by all on Saturday night. The New Bremen Sons of the American Legion held their annual Wingfest and there was a GREAT turnout. Lots of yummy wings, friends, fun and loads o $$$$ raised for Relay for Life.

Thanks for the hard work guys! Looking forward to next year.

Friend of Sara Paper - Sweetie Peas

Now I must give a well deserved "shout out" to my good friend Miss Kat Koeller of New Bremen.
I met Kat during the summer while working the Farmers Market circuit in St. Marys. Kat is multi-talented and has helped me in countless ways, most notably she created my badly needed website! She helped me set up this blog (thank you, thank you) and with her urging (well, some might call it nagging) she helped me to set up my etsy shop so I can start selling my stationery online. http://www.sarapaper.etsy.com/

Aside from being my personal web consultant Kat has her own etsy shop, http://www.mysweetiepeas.etsy.com/. She crochets the cutest little shoes and does all sorts of things to yarn that I don't even want to understand. She's probably the only person I will ever know who wants to own her own spinning wheel and sheep. If you need a special gift for a little one (or even an adult) drop her a line. Kat@mysweetiepeas.com.

Many thanks Kat for your hard work, patience, and your ability to drop everything for mexican food or a craft store. Check ya later!

Weekend Recap & Happy St. Patricks Day!

Are you wearing green today? Or atleast a pin that says, "Kiss me, I'm Irish". Wear it even if you aren't Irish. What the heck! I forgot to wear green while attending the St. Patricks Party at Speedway Lanes over the weekend. I made up for it by drinking green beer. Everyone had a great time listening to 4th Guy Blind. Looking forward to their next show which is Friday March 21st at Buds in Minster.

Client Spotlight - So, How Are You Celebrating St. Patty's?

My first ever Client Spotlight. I picked the band
"4th Guy Blind" to be the Spotlight for several reasons.
They are one of my most recent customers, they have a gig coming up and more importantly they are a great group of guys.

So if you are local to the New Bremen Area and looking for something to do this weekend you can catch the band at a
St. Patrick's Party at Speedway Lanes in New Bremen this Saturday. There is a beanbag tournament beginning at 7:00 pm and the band will begin around 10:00 pm.

Check out their site for more details, www.myspace.com/4thGuyBlind

I took advantage of the massive quantities of snow and kept myself inside for a snow day. I needed to catch up on things. Somehow, I can't help but wish we had a few more days of excessive snow for this very reason. Not really though.

I stayed cooped up and worked on projects for my Spring Brides, all the while hoping that come spring they will have beautiful wedding days full of sunshine. I've never been one to long for spring but this year I'm really looking forward to getting out my capris, taking great long walks and enjoying lunch outside with my husband and our three dogs.

The dogs are outside dogs and you might feel sorry for them with all this cold weather but they are fine. My husband Adam built them a dream dog house complete with insulation and warm bedding. They even have their own little "welcome" sign and door mat. When they are invited into our house for a while they get all "antsy" and want to go back outside. This picture is of Magnet, our oldest dog, who only cares about playing with her little soccer ball. At any hour of the day (or night) any sort of element. Here she is, patiently waiting for me to throw the ball.

Now she just has to wait for spring so she can chase Adams golf balls . . .

Wedding Expo in Greenville

The highlight of my Saturday activities - ummm, this is a hard one. The reason it is so difficult was because I had a such a great time at the Wedding Expo in Greenville. I hope anyone who attended had an enjoyable time and gathered some helpful info for wedding planning.

This was the first bridal show put on by Crystal Lee Ann Photography and I have to say, Crystal and her husband (Ashley with the Clover green tie) did an excellent job. Check out her website, she does beautiful work. http://www.crystalleeann.com/

So the highlights . . . I got to chat with a lot of nice brides. The other vendors were great too. And how about those goody bags? Crystal sent each vendor home with a bag and I was pleased to find that Kitchen Aid had donated a really nice kitchen utensil.

When leaving the show one of the nice cake vendors let everyone have extra samples of cake. I'm pretty sure 10 of those samples equals only one slice of cake so I didn't feel too guilty later that evening when I put my feet up and ate them all.

Mom and I got a nice tour of Greenville while we drove around looking for a place to eat (we then got lost which also lengthen the tour but that was fine).

All in all it was a successful day. Great job Crystal and Ashley! I'm already looking forward to attending next years event.
